SPECIALIZING IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTERVENTION & SENTENCING MITIGATION SERVICES

Welcome to Positive Paths Consulting! My name is Tasha Brown, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce myself and share my journey with you. As a passionate professional with a diverse background, I bring knowledge and experience to the table.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the esteemed University of Connecticut, where my fascination with the human mind and behavior began to take shape. Building upon that foundation, I pursued a Master of Science degree in Community Counseling Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University

These academic achievements provided me with a solid understanding of the complexities of human behavior and the essential skills necessary to make a positive impact.

My professional journey has taken me through various nonprofit agencies and the State of Connecticut's Judicial Branch, Court Support Services Division, and Office of Adult Probation. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving individuals and families in need, providing support, guidance, and hope during challenging times.

NONPROFIT PORESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE

In my role as a Substance Abuse Counselor, I conducted comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments. I developed tailored treatment plans for individuals facing addiction. I facilitated individual, group, and family counseling sessions within long-term inpatient and outpatient programs, as well as detoxification facilities. This experience allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of support and guidance.

STATE PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE

During my tenure with the Judicial Branch, I served the residents of Connecticut as Chief Probation Officer II. Over the course of 22 years, I held leadership positions in various locations, including New Haven, Derby, Milford, and Waterbury. Managing one of the most prominent offices in Connecticut, I oversaw a dedicated team of 75 professionals serving 5000 clients monthly.

My responsibilities encompassed a wide range of specialized units, including Intake, Assessment & Referral, Domestic Violence, Sex Offender, Presentence Investigations, Intensive Pretrial Supervision, Project Longevity/Gang, Technical Violation Unit, and more. Through rigorous training and continuous professional development, I became proficient in administering evidence-based assessments and interventions, ensuring the highest quality of care and support for individuals in the criminal justice system. For over 13 years I leveraged my skills as a professional trainer at the Training Academy, helping officers learn how to best conduct and write Presentence Investigations.

ENTREPRENEUR/ CEO PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE

In addition to my work in the public sector, I embraced my entrepreneurial spirit and founded a child transportation company. Managing daily operations and providing transportation services to foster care children, I witnessed a safe and supportive environment's profound impact on their lives.

Subsequently, I established a supervised visitation company, creating opportunities for foster care children to reconnect with their parents in a secure and nurturing setting, ultimately fostering the potential for reunification.

SPECIALTIES & PASSION

For the past couple of years, I have been dedicated to the field of domestic violence intervention perpetrator groups. I conduct clinical domestic violence intakes for the DVIS, Explore and Evolve Programs, as well as facilitate weekly Explore domestic violence intervention groups. This work stems from my deep commitment to helping individuals and families break free from the cycle of domestic violence and find their own positive path toward healing and change.

It is my honor to be recognized in the First 100 Plus Class of 2023 by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV). I will bring this driving force with me to every meeting as I serve individuals, families, and the community through Positive Paths Consulting!
